Becky Merola is a student of the streets, primarily 4000 Central Florida Boulevard. In other words, she is a UCF Advertising and Public Relations major. Her specialties lie in social media and creative writing. They say it takes 10,000 hours to be an expert at anything, she may be hitting that mark for hours spent on the internet soon. She performs stand-up comedy, but can’t think of anything funny to say about it.
Becky is currently a guest blogger on The Travel Bite. On “The Tech Trek” she tests and reviews new apps, websites and other travel technology. For “Spontaneous Instruction” she heads off on adventures on simply a whim. Those whims are normally food related. Becky is also currently a corporate communications and social media intern for Holiday Inn Club Vacations (@HIClubVacations). Her duties include developing and executing creative strategies for traditional PR and social media engagement.
In her role as media coordinator for the Student Labor Action Project at UCF, she maintains a social media presence and is the media contact for the group’s many actions. She is also a key member of the College Democrats at UCF. Becky is a registered voter registration agent and is highly engaged in the community. As a development intern at the Hope and Help Center of Central Florida Inc. she was instrumental to the development of their social media platforms. She promoted and assisted in the coordination of HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention/fundraising events including Headdress Ball, Orlando’s most outrageous charity event.
She is an avid t shirt collector, Star Wars (and general) geek, and animal lover (except birds). She is also the best white, female, Jewish rapper in her area. That area being whatever room she is currently in.
Enough about Becky, let’s talk about you: You should follow @beckymerola on Twitter.
Becky, I’m very impressed with your talents and activities! In my view, you are already a celebrity and a terrific one at that! Good luck in all of your endeavors and “break a leg”!

Thanks for the great show, Becky! You are so right getting sreattd with social media is just like getting sreattd with anything that you want to do. Thinking you want to do it and knowing you could benefit by doing it, don’t move you forward. The only thing that moves you towards your goals, is getting sreattd! Today!
